Late Night Fire Destroys Storage Building / Vehicles

A fire last night at DT’s Auto Detailing, 3904 Mansfield Road, destroyed a storage building and damaged three adjacently parked cars. According to Communications’ records, firefighters responded to the report of a building fire at 11:19 p.m. Even before crews arrived on the scene, from several miles away, firefighters could see a yellow glow and smoke coming from the fire. At first, fire officials thought that the main business was on fire but then realized the storage building was only involved.

Along with the two fire engines sent on the initial fire department response, officials called for an extra company after sizing up the intense blaze. Once firefighters attacked, the blaze stood little chance and was extinguished within minutes. The exact under control time for the fire was 11:29 p.m. The building and its contents, were listed as a total loss and valued at no more than $2,000. All three vehicles were also listed as losses. The department listed their value at $500 to $600 each.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation by the department’s Fire Prevention Bureau. No injuries were reported to civilians of firefighters. ###
