Police arrest man for aggravated rape

Shreveport police arrested a Shreveport man early this morning on a charge of aggravated rape.

Danny Simmons, 32, of Shreveport was arrested just before 5 a.m. without incident at a residence in the 1900 block of Doris Street.

He is charged with aggravated rape for the April 2, 2000 sexual assault of female was who allegedly was giving him a ride home.

Simmons was arrested after DNA found at the crime scene was linked to him. Bond for Simmons has been set at $150,000.
