Firefighters Battle Afternoon House Fire

Shreveport firefighters spent more than 45 minutes this afternoon extinguishing a stubborn house fire at 2828 Milam Street. Fire crews received the call reporting the fire at 2:20 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found a split level, brick and wooden structure pouring smoke from the bottom level, through the rook and walls.

Firefighters had to brake through burglar bars and move through several rooms of the residence to finally reach the base of the fire. After the initial blaze was knocked down it took several more minutes to extinguish several fires in the walls and window sills of the house.

Neighbors reported seeing a moving truck in front of the house, which was said to be vacant at the time of the fire, about an hour before the fire. Fire investigators are looking into the exact cause. No injuries were reported.
