Fire Investigators Arrest Local Woman on Arson Charges

Fire investigators have arrested and changed a 25-year-old Shreveport woman with simple arson following a house fire in Cedar Grove earlier this week.

Beatrice Moore was booked into city jail following a fire on Sunday that investigators said she started in a bedroom of the home where she was renting a room at 272 East 67^th Street.

On Sunday, the report of the fire was received at 6:48 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found one bedroom of the home on fire and were quickly able to extinguish the blaze. Fire damage was limited to the bedroom but the remainder of the structure suffered some smoke damage. The dollar amount of loss was approximated at no more than $500. Investigators said that Moore lit the curtains in the bedroom on fire following an ongoing domestic problem in the home. ###
