Fire Department to Participate in "Scout Round-Up"

Allendale neighborhood event to promote scouting and enroll new members

Shreveport firefighters will participate in the Resident Council for Jackson Heights’ 2002 Scout Round-Up this Thursday, May 30, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Jackson Heights ‘ Gymnasium, 1411 Milam Street. The purpose of the round-up is to recruit new youth into the Scouting program and to stimulate parental involvement.

Firefighters will be on hand to display their equipment and answer questions from the children or parents. The Shreveport Fire Department is an active partner with the Norwella Boy Scouts Council encouraging scouting and the benefits it affords today’s youth. Additionally, representatives from the Girl Scouts Pelican Council will be on hand to assist those young ladies interested in their organization. Both troops will conduct demonstrations, have activities and games, along with food, fun, and music.
