Fire Department and State Troopers to Offer Car Seat Safety Checks

The Shreveport Fire Department along with Louisiana State Troopers will be conducting a children’s car seat safety check tomorrow in the northeast parking lot of Mall St. Vincent from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The public is invited and encouraged to come by and have their car seats inspected by trained professionals.

Statistics have shown that more than 70 percent of car seats installed by untrained parents and guardians are installed incorrectly and could lead to serious injury or death in the event of an accident. Participants in the car seat safety check are public safety professionals who have just completed a five day training course to become Certified Car Seat Safety Expert instructors at the Shreveport Fire Academy. ###
