Son Who Saved Mother With CPR Instructions from Fire Department to be Recognized

A Shreveport man who saved his mothers life by performing CPR after she suffered a heart attack will be recognized by the Fire Department . . .

Thursday, February 13, during a 10:00 p.m. ceremony in the fire chief’s office at Central Station. Last Saturday, Henry Wright called 911 to report that his mother, Delores Wright had suffered a heart attack in their home at 1839 Myrtle Street. Fire Communications Officer Tony Johns instructed Wright in proper CPR after discovering that she had stopped breathing. When firefighters and paramedics from the nearby Milam Street station arrived, they found Henry Wright performing CPR while still listening and taking instructions from Officer Johns.

Firefighters shocked Ms. Wright with EKG paddles and she regained a pulse and blood pressure. She was rushed to Willis Knighton Medical Center, where today she continues to improve. Fire officials are crediting Henry Wright and his ability to remain calm and follow instruction under such a difficult situation with saving his mothers life. Henry will receive the Civilian Letter of Commendation for his actions. Communications officer Johns along with Captain Mike Mackey, and firefighters Craig Bynog, Rick Scales, Garrett Matthews, Charlie Parker and Damon Johnson will receive Letters of Commendation for their actions in this life saving effort. ###
