FIRE SAID TO BE ARSON

Fire investigators are listing a fire that totally destroyed an Allendale home yesterday afternoon as arson . . .

The fire was reported by a Shreveport Fire Inspector just after 3:00 p.m., who was traveling downtown when he noticed smoke coming from the Milam Street area. Inspector Kevin Ellis said that when he arrived at 1247 Wood Street the single story wood fame structure was heavily involved in fire and smoke. Ellis was able to determine that the home was vacant.

The fire took firefighters from nearby Central and Milan Street Stations more than an hour to finally bring under control. Because the structure was unoccupied and without utilities, it appears to have all the trappings of arson. The fire department is asking anyone with information on this fire to please contact its arson investigations office at 673-6740. ###
