Fire Department to Recognize Civilian Heros

The Shreveport Fire Department will present three area residents with Civilian Commendations for their lifesaving actions at recent area emergency events . . .

Sam Huglon, 24, pulled his neighbor, Larry Mosley, 56, from his burning home in the 400 block of Browning last Monday, May 10. After seeing the flames and smoke from the fire, Huglon and others ran to the home and heard Mosley yelling for help. Huglon raced around to the back of the home, hopped a fence, and ran to the patio, where he saw Mosley lying on the floor inside. Huglon broke out the glass and dragged Mosley to safety. Mosley is in serious condition and recovering form burn and inhalation injuries at LSU Health Science Center.

On April 22, 2004, the fire department responded to a house fire in the 200 block of West 80th Street and were alerted on dispatch that there would possibly be someone in the residence. Prior to the department’s arrival, two bystanders, Larry Caldwell and Stanley Graham rescued Elvia Guevara from her burning house.
