May 10, 2007 - Shreveport Firefighters to hold Benefit Big Bass Tournament

Proceeds to go towards stricken firefighter’s medical bills

Shreveport firefighters are holding a benefit Big Bass Tournament to raise money for firefighter Nick Anderson who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Anderson, with the department since 2004, and his family are struggling to keep up with mounting medical costs associated with treatment of the disease. At the time of his illness, Anderson was in the process of switching health insures, which left him uninsured. The logistics of the fund raiser are as follows:

The Shreveport Firefighters Benefit Big Bass Tournament

Where: Clarks Red River Marina, 500 J.T. White Rd., Bossier City
When: Friday, May 25, 2007
Time: From first light – 1pm, one fish weigh in!
Entry fee: $40 for adults and $10 for children under 15 (children must be accompanied by adult and can weigh in any species of fish)

Prizes include a Shaver’s Crawfish Boil for 100 people ($1,500 value), $500 cash, and a Bayou Outdoors camper trainer for one week, and much, much more. Kids will be handed out trophies for their efforts, with the largest scaled fish mounted for free by Realistic Taxidermy.
