November 3, 2008 - Fire Damages Home on West Jordan

Seven fire companies responded to the fire

The Shreveport Fire Department responded to 2753 West Jordan Street for a home on fire at 4:37 PM this afternoon. Fire crews arrived four minutes later to find the back porch and attic on fire and the home filled with heavy black smoke. Fire crews immediately went inside to extinguish the fire but had to be pulled out due to the unsafe conditions that the fire was presenting to the firefighters inside. The fire was then extinguished by advancing fire hose around to the rear of the home. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

The home was occupied with two adults and four children at the time of the fire. One adult stated her daughter said the back of the house was on fire and she ran to the back porch to find it engulfed in flames. All of the occupants exited the home at that time with no injuries reported.

Seven fire companies responded to the fire and there were no firefighter injuries. The fire is still under investigation to determine the cause.
