June 25, 2009 - Reduced Water Pressure throughout the City of Shreveport

The City experienced an electrical issue at the T. L. Amiss Water Purification Plant

The City of Shreveport experienced an electrical issue at the T. L. Amiss Water Purification Plant early this morning. This has caused damage to wiring of three of the City’s high service pumps and has reduced the amount of water that the City can pump into the water system. Repairs are on-going and are expected to be complete later today or tonight.

While these repairs will not cause a loss of water to any customers, system pressure will be reduced. The City is requesting all residents to discontinue all outside watering immediately and that all customers should reduce their water consumption down to only necessary usage. The City is also ordering City personnel to discontinue our flushing program and any non-essential high volume water use until we are back up to full pumping capacity and system pressure.
