August 3, 2009 - Shreveport Fire Department Investigators Arrest Person for Simple Arson

Arrested for allegedly pouring an ignitable liquid on paper and leaving it burning next to the home at the address

Shreveport Fire Investigators arrested a 22 year old female late last night for simple arson. Ashley Roberson was arrested after Fire Investigators responded to 3455 Fulton Street around 10:30 PM on Sunday night. Mrs. Roberson was arrested for allegedly pouring an ignitable liquid on paper and leaving it burning next to the home at the address.

Simple arson is found under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:52 and carries the following sentences if convicted of the crime:

● Whoever commits the crime of simple arson, where the damage done amounts to five hundred dollars or more, shall be fined not more than fifteen thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than two years and no more than fifteen years.
 
● Where the damage is less than five hundred dollars, the offender shall be fined not more than twenty-five hundred dollars or imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than five years, or both.
