August 26, 2009 - Shreveport Fire Department launches new “Twitter” Information Service

www.twitter.com/Shreveportfire to provide instant emergency incident updates/ safe tips / and public interest information

This week the Shreveport Fire Department launched www.twitter.com/Shreveportfire as a new way of sharing valuable time-sensitive information to the citizens of Shreveport. “This venue will allow the Department to release important alerts and immediate updates of motor vehicle accidents, fire issues, road closures and other safety concerns, such as hurricane alerts and evacuations, to those in transit,” according to Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford. Adding, “We’re excited to bring this cutting-edge, real-time technology to the citizens of Shreveport. Twitter is one of the fastest-growing forms of communication, and we’re committed to offering this service as a way to keep our community safe as well as informed about the daily operations of their fire department.”
