August 27, 2009 - SFD files Additional Charges against Arson Suspect
The SFD Investigators release additional charges filed against suspect accused of SRAC fire
After an aggressive investigation, Shreveport’s Fire Officials have compiled a comprehensive list of additional charges filed against Gary Vinson, 38, of Shreveport. Investigators report that Vinson’s arson activity can be traced back to fires in June 2009. The following are the charges and descriptions:
● Three (3) counts of Aggravated Arson—Louisiana R.S. 14:51—824 Wilson Street –Tues, August 25, 2009. Three separate fires around or against a building. It was foreseeable that human life was in danger because the building was occupied.
● One (1) count of Aggravated Arson—1158 Prospect--On Sat., August 22, 2009, a fire was intentionally set a fire in the stairwell of Southern Avenue Apartments. The building was occupied and human life was endangered
● One (1) count of Simple Arson of a Religious Building-- RS 14:52.1—1047 Texas Avenue—On Tues., August 25, 2009 – Second Chance Temple of Deliverance. Definition: A fire was intentionally set to a church, synagogue, mosque, or other building, structure, or place primarily used for religious worship or other religious purpose.
● Eleven (11) of Simple Arson R.S. 14.52—Definition: Simple arson is the intentional damaging by any explosive substance or the setting fire to any property of another, without the consent of the owner.
○ 800 Snow Street-On Tues., August 25, 2009, a fire was intentionally set to Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) Headquarters
○ 939 Louisiana Avenue—On Tues., August 25, 2009, a vehicle was set on fire in the parking lot of McClamrock Tools
○ 824 Wilson Street— On Tues, August 25, 2009, a vehicle set on fire that belonged to an employee of the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission Warehouse.

○ Alley behind 1047 Texas—On Tues., August 25, 2009, cross ties were intentionally set on fire
○ 2008 Southern Avenue—On Sat., August 22, 2009, a vacant structure was intentionally set on fire.
○ 1600 Fairfield Avenue—On Fri., August 19, 2009, a fire was intentionally set in the boiler room of a vacant building
○ 1734 Southern Avenue—On Mon., August 17, 2009, a fire was intentionally set to vehicle on the property of Southern Automotive
○ 1515 Southern Avenue—On Sun., August 16, 2009, a fire was intentionally set to storage facility damaging goods that belonged to Jesus Christ Holiness Church
○ 115 Stoner Avenue— On Wed., August 5, 2009, a fire was intentionally set in a vacant apartment building
○ Lake Street and McNeil Street—On Tues., June 9, 2009, a fire was intentionally set to vehicle that belonged to an employee of the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission
