June 10, 2010- Four Shreveport Firefighters Graduate from SPD Academy
SFD Welcomes First Dedicated SWAT Medics to Department
During the SPD graduation ceremonies, Shreveport Fire Chief Brian Crawford will recognize the accomplishments of three Shreveport firefighters who successfully completed the specialized training requirements of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) certification program, and one Fire Inspector who completed the POST certification program.
The following SWAT and graduates are: Fire Captain/Paramedic Donald Smith, Fire Engineer/Paramedic Daniel Mathews and Training Officer/Paramedic Jon Prator as SWAT medics. Josh McCollum graduates to practice as a Fire Investigator.

“This is a history-making partnership between the SFD and the SPD -- it’s the first corporative effort for our departments of this magnitude. These individuals will be called upon in critical, life-saving situations to provide immediate assistance to SPD’s SWAT officers who may be injured in the line of duty” said Chief Crawford. “Our goal is to protect our brothers and sisters in blue.”
