June 21, 2010 - Mid-morning Fire Caused by Careless Cooking
House Fire in Morningside area

Today, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2400 block of Woodford Street in the Morningside community in southwest Shreveport at 10:49 a.m. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy smoking billowing from the exterior windows and doors of the single-story, wood-framed house.

It took firefighters less than 10 minutes to extinguish the fire, which was contained in the kitchen area. This fire remains under investigation although fire officials have determined that unattended food left on the stove is the cause of this fire. The homeowners escaped to safety after the fire was reported.
