July 14, 2010 - Shreveport Fire Department calls TV Personality “Billy the Exterminator” to remove Swarming Bees

The Shreveport Fire Department can do a lot of things, like extinguish fires, remove hazardous materials, and transport patients from emergency situations but they can’t remove bees.

After many failed attempts and numerous bee stings, the Shreveport Fire Department is being rescued by “Billy the Exterminator” to remove a large bee hive from the Fire Tower at the Training Academy located at 6440 Greenwood Road. Billy the Exterminator is the character from a popular A & E television show that thrives on removing pesky problems.

According to Chief Training Officer Louis Johnson, our Department has loss use of its fire training tower because the bees hive covers several floors of the four story fire tower.

The production team for the “Billy the Exterminator Show” will set up at 9:00 a.m. then start exterminating and shooting at 10 a.m. “This is a great opportunity for us to rid our selves of these difficult bees and get a little FREE TV coverage as well,” said Fire Chief Brian Crawford.

Logistics for Bee Removal:

Place: Fire Training Academy at 6440 Greenwood Road
