August 19, 2010 - SFD’s Dive Team to make Impact in the Community
Two practical Emergency Water Rescue demonstrations

Under the auspices of the City of Shreveport, the newly created Stewart/Warner Swim Foundation is sponsoring two practical Emergency Water Rescue demonstrations on Sat., August 21st and Sat., August 28th at various SPAR locations throughout the city.

Members of the Shreveport Fire Department’s Dive Team - with a total of 30 years of combined water experience - will lead each class. These training sessions are designed to teach non-swimmers basic, fundamental tips for water survival while refreshing and sharpening the water skills of seasoned swimmers. These classes are FREE and opened to the public. SPAR will provide on-site life guards and FREE refreshments.

Logistics for Sat., Aug. 21, 2010 demonstrations:
• David Raines Pool --2920 Round Grove Lane (10:00-11:00 a.m.)
• Bill Cockrell Pool-- 4109 Pines Road from (noon-1:00 p.m.)
• Airport Park Pool-- 6500 Kennedy Drive (2:00-3:00 p.m.)

Logistics for Sat., Aug. 28, 2010 demonstrations:
• Querbes Park--3500 Beverly Place (10:00-11:00 a.m.)
• Southern Hills Park--1002 Bert Kouns Loop (noon-1:00 pm)

“Mayor Glover and I are committed to using all available resources to ensure the unfortunate events of August 2nd do not repeat itself. I am pleased to announce that members of the Stewart/Warner families will be participating - positive things can come from tragic events,” according to Chief Brian Crawford. “We’re asking the community to support this worthwhile effort by attending in great numbers.”
