September 21, 2010 - Juvenile Arrested for 1^st Degree Murder

A two year old female and a 7 year old male died

Fire Chief Brian Crawford announced today the arrest of a juvenile whose arson fire took the life of two children. At 4:00 pm today a 14 year old juvenile was booked at Shreveport City Jail and transferred to the Shreveport Juvenile Detention Center. The juvenile was arrested on two counts of first degree murder for allegedly setting the arson fire that took the life of the children.

On May 18, 2008, the SFD was dispatched to the Autumnwood Apartments at 9050 Youree Drive. A two year old female and a 7 year old male died from injuries sustained at the fire. The juvenile charged for the crimes was 12 years old at the time of the fire.

The Shreveport Fire Prevention Bureau had two investigators along with Shreveport Police Department Investigators, who worked diligently on this case for over two years. Fire Chief Brian Crawford stated, “The perseverance and hard work of these two fire investigators and the police department paid off today with the arrest of this individual and the alleged crimes that he committed. Our Fire Investigators have one of the best arson arrest records in the country and their service to the citizens of Shreveport is highly commendable.”
