December 13, 2010 - Fire Damages Cedar Grove Home

The fire was quickly extinguished and an exposed home protected

The Shreveport Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 264 East 74^th Street at 8:22 pm this evening. Fire crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find flames coming from one side of a one story wood frame home. The fire was quickly extinguished and an exposed home protected with the fire brought under control at 8:36 pm.
 
The home was occupied by a family of five (two adults and three children) who escaped without injury. The female adult occupant of the home stated she heard popping noises and saw fire on the outside of the home and immediately got her family out. The fire started outside the home and spread up the outside wall into the attic. The home suffered moderate fire damage to one side of the home and the attic. Fire crews were able to save a large majority of the home from fire damage. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
