Louis Johnson
Chief of Training |
The Shreveport Fire Department Training Division is
proud to continue its role of providing support, coordination and on-going training
to meet the needs of our Department. The Training Division takes seriously its role
as trainer provider in the areas of Emergency Medical Services, Fire Tactics and Hazardous Materials
Operations as well as Leadership and Special Operations.
For the First time, in 2009, the Academy staff provided in-house training in the area of
Special Operations; rope rescue, confined space and trench classes were all taught at the
Academy by Academy staff. The Training Division successfully graduated its 52nd Basic class.
The Training Academy entered into a partnership with Caddo Parish Schools and prepared to
instruct its first ever Firefighter I class for high school students beginning in January 2010.
Also in 2009, the Training Division took the lead in preparing USAR Training for State of Louisiana
as we continue to lead the way in assuring the Department's primary goal is response readiness.
