Man wanted for robbery/homicide arrested
Police arrested Timothy Butler, 22, of Shreveport on a charge of first degree murder about 11 a.m. today.
Butler was found in a vehicle parked in a grocery store lot at Hearne and Waggoner. His brother, 23-year-old Thomas Butler, was taken to the station for questioning.
Butler is believed to have killed 47-year-old store owner Jamil Abdul. Abdul was shot during a robbery of the Clothing Outlet, located at 2600 Jewella. According to reports, two black males entered the store about 12:30 p.m. and pretended to shop. They then pulled handguns and demanded money. During the robbery Abdul and Butler allegedly got into a struggle, and Abdul was subsequently shot. He died at the scene.
Still outstanding is Jerry Wright, 19, of Shreveport. He is wanted for second degree murder in Abdul’s death.
Anyone with information about Wright’s whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 673-7000 or Shreveport Police Communications at 673-7300 and talk to an operator.
