Police to conduct administrative checkpoint
Shreveport Police Department will be checking for insurance and other traffic violators at a checkpoint being held in North Shreveport beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
The specific location, which is not being disclosed, is aimed at catching insurance violators.
The administrative checkpoint, as it is officially named, is something the department does periodically as a way to enforce traffic laws.
The last checkpoint was held Sept. 12 on West 70th Street and involved the checking of about 1,500 vehicles. Of those stopped, 43 people were cited for not having proof of insurance and therefore, had their license tags removed. In all, about 100 traffic citations were written. Three people were arrested on outstanding warrants, and one person was arrested for DWI.
The checkpoint will last about four hours. It is paid for with grant money.
