Shreveport Police Department is helping facilitate a Black History Parade honoring late Caddo Parish School Board member Johnny Vance Jr.

The parade will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday and features more than 250 students from Barret Elementary School.

The parade begins in the front parking lot of Barret, located in the 2600 block of Barret Street. It proceeds to Rendall Street, Southern, Dalzell, Fairfield, Wilkerson and returned to Barret.

Mrs. Johnny Vance Jr. will be the Grand Marshal for the parade, which commemorates the lifelong achievements of her husband.
