Police to conduct insurance checkpoint
Shreveport police will be on a city street tomorrow, checking drivers to see if they have liability insurance.
The checkpoint will be held somewhere in the Cedar Grove area between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
This will be the second time this year and the third time in the last seven months that officers have conducted such the insurance operation. On Jan. 17, officers checked insurance along Grimmet Drive in North Shreveport, and on Sept. 12, officers checked insurance along West 70th Street in West Shreveport.
Residents who do not have prove of insurance can be cited and have their license plate removed from their vehicle.
In the Jan. 17 checkpoint, police checked 925 vehicles. They wrote 68 citations, including 38 for no insurance.
