Police arrest indicted rape suspect

A Shreveport man was arrested this morning after a grand jury indicted him on two counts of aggravated rape.

Joel June, 44, was arrested without incident at his home in the 7100 block of Jewella. Bond is set at $250,000.

June is accused of raping two girls under the age of 12 on separate occasions between 1999 and 2001.

If convicted of aggravated rape, a person can be sentenced to life in prison. However, if the victim is under age 12, prosecutors can seek the death penalty if they so choose.
