Shreveport Police Department made a surprise visit to an illegal sexually-oriented business operation running out of a building in the 4800 block of Mansfield Road.
Search warrants were executed early this morning at the establishment called J.J.’s Party Place, also known as J.J.’s Boom Boom Room, and at the building owner’s residence located in the 1400 block of Harvard.
Four people were arrested at the establishment – two for possession of marijuana and two who had outstanding arrest warrants. A fifth person, building owner Johnny Johnson, 52, was arrested at his home on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.
Police also seized nearly $4,000 from the owner’s house and the establishment. Money included a $10 cover charge that was collected at the door and tips that had been collected from dancers.
The raid took place after the Shreveport Police Department received complaints about lewd dancing and sex acts being performed there. Surveillance of the building conducted for several weeks revealed that girls danced totally nude and sex acts were performed in what patrons referred to as the "Boom Boom Room." An investigation is continuing as to the extent of the establishment’s violations and persons involved.
For a business to be a legitimate sexually-oriented business, it must be properly zoned, have an occupational license and a permit to serve alcohol. Such businesses must also follow guidelines for dancing, and employees must have Alcohol Beverage Ordinance cards.
Participating in the raid were the SPD Units of Intelligence, Vice, Narcotics, K-9 and Patrol.
