Serial rapist charged with 7 counts in Shreveport, Caddo

The man arrested in Bossier Parish for a series of rapes in Shreveport, Caddo and Bossier parishes was transported to Shreveport tonight.

Wendell Liesmann, 38, of Elm Grove, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail and will be transferred to the Caddo Correctional Center. He has been arrested on seven charges. They are:

• three counts of aggravated rape in Shreveport

• two counts of aggravated burglary in Shreveport

• one count of simple burglary in Shreveport

• one count of attempted aggravated rape in Caddo Parish

Liesmann also faces a number of charges in Bossier Parish, which is where he was arrested and linked to the other cases.

Bond for Liesmann has been set by a Caddo Parish judge at $1,820,000.

Since 1999, law enforcement officials have been looking for a man they believed to be a serial rapist that targeted elderly women. He is charged locally with crimes in western Caddo Parish, West Shreveport and the Highland neighborhood.
