Shreveport Police are looking for a Shreveport man wanted in Marshall, Texas, for stealing a vehicle that caused two accidents on Greenwood Road this afternoon.
An arrest warrant has been issued for William T. Funcheon, 29, of Shreveport, who is wanted for Unauthorized Use of a Moveable. He allegedly stole a 1997 red Chevy Tahoe from a car dealer’s lot in Marshall on Saturday.
The red Tahoe was located in Shreveport about 3:15 p.m. by a Shreveport police officer. The officer got involved in a vehicle pursuit with the Tahoe and about three minutes later, both vehicles were involved in separate accidents.
The first accident occurred in front of Midway Elementary school after the officer wrecked his police car. The accident occured when the officer swerved to miss an 18-wheeler and clipped a Caddo Parish School bus, which was not carrying children. The police car then spun and landed against an electrical pole, knocking out power to local businesses. The officer, David Heaser, was not injured. But the school bus driver, 51-year-old Jean Davidson of Shreveport was taken to Willis-Knighton North with possible injuries.
The second accident occurred a few moments later, when the stolen Tahoe turned onto Broadway and hit a van nearly head on. The driver of the van, 47-year-old Eddie R. Davis of Shreveport, was taken to W-K North with possible injuries. Meanwhile, two or three black male suspects in the Tahoe fled on foot.
Police detained two possible suspects for questioning, but at this point it does not appear that they were involved in the incident. Meanwhile, anyone who knows the whereabouts of Funcheon is asked to call auto theft detectives at 673-6985 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7000.
