Woman wanted in theft arrested

A Shreveport woman wanted for embezzling more than $13,200 from her employer has turned herself into the Caddo Correctional Center.

Gay M. Smith, 40, of Shreveport is charged with felony theft for allegedly taking money that was meant to be stocked into an ATM machine at the Airport Texaco where she worked as a manager.

The theft is believed to have occurred between Oct. 1 and Nov. 16, 2001.

Smith turned herself in after a friend saw her featured on media reports.
