Man arrested for taking money from bowling league

Shreveport police have arrested a man for felony theft for allegedly stealing $12,610 from the Traveling Classic Bowling League.

John Anders, 45, of Bossier City was arrested Wednesday after he was contacted in New Mexico where he was staying.

Anders was league secretary for the bowling league and was in charge of depositing weekly dues into the bank. On March 24, he was to have paid out some prize money. However, Anders reportedly did not show up with the money and fled the state.

He returned to Shreveport and turned himself in.
