On Wednesday, it will have been two years since 62-year-old Alzheimer’s patient Louise Johnson walked away from a temporary SporTran bus terminal near Municipal Auditorium.
It was April 24, 2000, and the city was cleaning up from major tornadoes that ripped through the area.
Johnson was dropped off at the Sir Washalot Washateria in the 4900 block of Broadway at about 9 a.m. by a neighbor, who instructed Johnson to call when she was ready to be picked up. Johnson never called.
There were reports that Johnson was seen at the SporTran station, but there also were reports she had been at Leonia’s Deli on Jewella Avenue that afternoon.
Since then, there has been no sign of the woman, who is diabetic.
Johnson is a black female with blonde hair, brown eyes and a small build, was last seen wearing pink shorts and black tennis shoes.
She lived in the 5600 block of McAlpine. She is 5'7" and weighs about 150 pounds. She has a medium complexion, wears prescription glasses and has a gold tooth.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Detective Patricia Lamotte at 673-7020.
Any media outlet that would like to interview Ms. Johnson’s family members can call Kacee and she will arrange it.
