Shreveport police sponsor DWI checkpoint
The Shreveport Police Department is heading up tonight’s DWI checkpoint.
With assistance from the Louisiana State Police and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office, police officers will be checking for drunk drivers in the City of Shreveport.
While the specific location of the checkpoint will not be revealed, it will be held in Police District No. 5, which encompasses the central and eastern part of the city.
The checkpoint begins around 10 p.m. and lasts until 4 a.m. Drivers will be checked for sobriety, but they should be ready to show proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license as well.
This checkpoint is the latest in a series of checkpoints conducted by the Shreveport Police Department for both DWI and insurance. The latest was an insurance checkpoint held in the Cedar Grove area on March 13. The last DWI checkpoint was held on Clyde Fant Parkway during the New Year’s holiday.
