Police donate old radios to Southern University

Shreveport City Council has approved the donation of police radio equipment to Southern University.

About six radios and eight battery chargers will be given to Southern’s police department to use for campus security and officer communication.

The equipment became surplus in 2001 after the city switched to a new 800-megahertz radio system that enabled direct communication between Shreveport Police Department, the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and the Shreveport Fire Department.
