Twenty-three police recruits are in possibly the best shape of their lives and will prove it by running 11.1 miles to raise money for the Renzi Education and Arts Center.
The recruit run will take place Thursday morning, June 20. They will depart the Shreveport Regional Police Academy at 6:30 a.m. and run to the Bossier City Police Training Center, 1549 East Texas Street, in Bossier City. They will arrive around 8:45 or 9 a.m.
The recruit run is a tradition among academy classes. Each run gets longer and is now extending into Bossier City.
Besides being physically fit to run the race, the recruits work to raise money for a good cause. This year’s class has raised more than $1,500 for the Renzi Center, a program that helps meet children’s educational needs.
The recruits will graduate at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 21, in the auditorium of the Shreveport Regional Police Academy on Greenwood Road.
Please come and cover their hard work. The department is looking forward to welcoming them to patrol.
