Police arrest woman for cruelty to a juvenile

Shreveport police arrested a 38-year-old Shreveport woman about 12:50 a.m. this morning on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.

Brenda Pouncy of the 700 block of Kelly Street was arrested after witnesses reported she threw her 2-year-old son to the ground and struck him in the nose and mouth.

The child was taken to LSU Hospital and will be placed with Child Protection upon release.

Police found Pouncy a short distance from where the child was located.
