Insurance checkpoint catches many without proof

The insurance checkpoint on the 8900 block of Kingston was successful. The Shreveport Police Department cited 22 citizens between 10 am and 2 pm for various violations.

There were 14 cars without proof of insurance, four motor vehicle inspection violations, two with no drivers license, one child restraint and one expired license tag.

In addition to the citations given, there were 14 license plates removed from vehicles for not having proof of insurance.

The checkpoint should send a message to those who drive without being properly insured. More checkpoints will take place throughout the year.
