Investigation continues into Oriole Lane shooting

Shreveport detectives are continuing to investigate why a woman would shoot her daughter and two granddaughters.
Joan B. Edgar, 61, of the 100 block of Hammerly Drive is charged with first-degree murder. She is accused of fatally shooting the oldest grandchild, who was 3 years-old, in a home in the 500 block of Oriole Lane. The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The deceased girl’s mother, 32-year-old Connie Gerald, is in fair condition in the intensive care unit at LSU Hospital. The 1-year-old girl remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at LSU.
The names of the children are not being released at this time.
