Grass-roots crime fighting campaign moves into Queensborough

Shreveport’s door-to-door crime fighting initiative is moving to the Queensborough neighborhood this Thursday, August 29.

Police officers, chaplains and volunteers, including Shreveport Mayor Keith Hightower, will meet at 8:30 a. m. at Bilberry Park, located in the 2900 block of Lakeshore. From there they will canvass the neighborhood, visiting dozens of residents and asking about crime they see taking place in the community.

Letters will be left with residents that contain a phone number they can call whenever they want to anonymously report crime problems. That number is 673-7356.

The program, which began in January, is making its way throughout the city. Thursday’s visit will be the second to Area 3, which comprises a large portion of west Shreveport.
