Grass-roots crime fighting campaign moves into Cedar Grove

Shreveport’s door-to-door crime fighting initiative is moving to the Cedar Grove neighborhood this Wednesday, September 4th.

Police officers, chaplains and volunteers, including Shreveport Mayor Keith Hightower, will meet at 9:30 a. m. at A. B. Palmer Park, located in the 500 block of E. 79th St. From there they will canvass the neighborhood, visiting dozens of residents and asking about crime they see taking place in the community.

Letters will be left with residents that contain a phone number they can call whenever they want to anonymously report crime problems. That number is 673-7213.

The program, which began in January, is making its way throughout the city. Wednesday’s visit will be the first to Area 4, which comprises a large portion of southwest Shreveport.
