Grass-roots crime fighting campaign moves into Cedar Grove

Shreveport’s door-to-door crime fighting initiative is moving to the Cedar Grove neighborhood this Wednesday, September 4th.

Police officers, chaplains and volunteers, including Shreveport Mayor Keith Hightower, will meet at 9:30 a. m. at A. B. Palmer Park, located in the 500 block of E. 79^th St. From there they will canvass the neighborhood, visiting dozens of residents and asking about crime they see taking place in the community.

Letters will be left with residents that contain a phone number they can call whenever they want to anonymously report crime problems. That number is 673-7213.

The program, which began in January, is making its way throughout the city. Wednesday’s visit will be the first to Area 4, which comprises a large portion of southwest Shreveport.
