Tire pickup to clean up neighborhoods, prevent mosquitoes

Queensborough/Ingleside Weed and Seed will be holding a tire cleanup September 4th, 5th, and 6th in conjunction with a Code Enforcement Sweep Day on Sept. 4th.

Residents in the two neighborhoods are asked to put old tires at the curbside, so work crews can pick them up.

The cleanup is part of Weed and Seed’s ongoing effort to clean up the area, but getting rid of the old tires also will help in controlling mosquitoes, insects that are known to carry the West Nile Virus.

In addition to picking up old and unwanted tires, the city’s Code Enforcement officials will be on hand Wednesday, September 4th to check for any code violations in the neighborhoods. Residents found in violation of city codes are subject to receiving citations.

Weed and Seed officials say it may take a couple of days for all the tires to be picked up. If residents have any questions, they can call the Queensborough/Ingleside Weed and Seed Office at 673-7355.
