Shreveport Police to host Risk Watch

The Shreveport Police Department, with assistance from the Shreveport Fire Department and the Caddo Parish School Board, will be presenting Risk Watch this Friday, September 20th at Turner Elementary School.

Risk Watch is a national comprehensive injury prevention program from the National Fire Prevention Association. This school based curriculum is easy to teach and will target children in preschool through eighth grade. It is hoped that this training throughout the formative years will shape attitudes and values about wellness and safety.

Studies reflect that in the United States a child dies every 87 minutes from an unintentional injury. Although statistics are used to re-enforce the need for this training, there is a face to go with each number and everyone from business owners and parents to insurance companies will benefit from this program.

Risk Watch will kick off at 1:00 p. m. , marking the first time the program has been used in North Louisiana.
