Chief of Police to present lifesaving award to officer

Chief of Police Jim Roberts will present Officer Robert Elliott with a prestigious departmental award during a 3 p.m. ceremony, Thursday, October 31st.

Officer Elliott will receive the Departmental Life Saving Award for heroic actions taken during the early morning hours of October 8^th. Officer Elliott responded to a call of a missing person and he was able to locate the man submerged in a swimming pool. Officer Elliott pulled the unresponsive man from the pool and discovered that the victim had no vital signs. Officer Elliott began performing CPR on the victim and continued to do so until the Shreveport Fire Department arrived on scene.

Officer Elliott, a six year veteran of the department, is directly responsible for saving the life of this drowning victim.

Chief Roberts will hold the ceremony in the Chief’s office, located on the first floor of the police complex.
