Weeks of shopping, wrapping and organizing Christmas toys will end Thursday, as officers and firefighters pick up toys to be delivered as part of Operation Santa Claus.
Members of the Shreveport police and fire departments, Bossier City police and fire departments, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office will be delivering toys through Saturday.
Nearly 1900 children will receive Operation Santa Claus, thanks to the generous giving of local citizens.
Children receiving the toys were signed up for Operation Santa Claus by the officers and firefighters who see them in the communities. Those public servants see the need that is in the communities they serve each day.
Since Thanksgiving, volunteers have been collecting toys and wrapping the toys for the young recipients. That hard work will soon pay off, as the officers and firefighters pick up the toys and deliver them to the children.
Any media outlet wanting to travel with the officers to deliver toys is welcome to do so. You can call me at the above number or Operation Santa headquarters at 687-4438.
