Man arrested for severely beating 4-year-old boy

Shreveport Detective Suzanne Gallier has charged a Shreveport man on a charge of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

Reginald D. Davis, 23, of the 7000 block of Red Fox Trail is accused of severely beating his girlfriend’s 4-year-old boy.

The boy is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Willis-Knighton South where he has been since he was transported there by the Shreveport Fire Department Wednesday night – nearly two days after he was beaten.

The boy is suffering from kidney failure and severe bruising on his back and buttocks. He also suffered human bite marks on his buttocks, back and face.

It is believed the beating took place after the boy made mistakes while practicing his numbers. Davis was babysitting the child while his mother was at work.

Second-degree cruelty to a juvenile is punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
