Police academy recruits graduate Friday;charity run set for tomorrow

Seven police recruits will graduate from the Shreveport Regional Police Academy in a ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday.

Before they get their badges, they will show their athleticism in a 12-mile charity run that starts at the Shreveport Regional Police Academy and ends at the Bossier City Police Academy.

The recruits will depart the Shreveport academy at 6:30 a.m. and arrive at the Bossier City academy about 9 a.m.

The recruits have raised about $1,600 so far, which will be given to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

The graduation takes place at 9 a.m. Friday at the Fire and Police Academy Auditorium, located at 6440 Greenwood Road.

Those graduating are Julian Anderson, Denise Chavis, Leeann Collver, Terry Franks, Dorinda Gluck, Christian Hicks, John Jackson, Jason King and Angie Willhite. All will work for the Shreveport Police Department, except Collver, who will work for the Shreveport Airport Authority, and Gluck, who will work for the Haynesville Police Department.
