A Shreveport man was charged today with felony carnal knowledge and indecent behavior with a juvenile.
James Deaton, 21, was charged with the offenses while being held in the Caddo Correctional Center on similar charges.
Deaton is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl in front of the girl’s 12-year-old relative at his home in the 700 block of Kings Highway in May of 2002.
The offender reportedly wrote letters to the victim while in prison. When the girl’s parents discovered the letters in January of this year, they contacted Bossier City Police Department.
Since the offense occurred in Shreveport, Bossier City turned over its investigation to Shreveport Police Department.
Deaton was serving a sentence he received for a similar incident that occurred in November 2001. At that time, Shreveport police charged him with carnal knowledge and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile for an incident involving a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl.
