Man arrested for aggravated incest

Shreveport detectives arrested a man today for aggravated incest.

Dennis Mahoney, 32, of Shreveport turned himself in after Detective Rita Caldwell obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Mahoney is accused of having sexual relations with a relative over a five-year period from 1997 to 2002. The relative has since moved away.

The incest was documented in a diary written by the girl, who asked a friend if the relationship was OK. She was age 3 or 4 when the incest began.

Police were called and the investigation resulted in the aggravated incest charge. The punishment for aggravated incest is a maximum $50,000 fine and 20 years in prison.
