Shreveport police have charged a Shreveport man with driving while intoxicated and vehicular homicide for his involvement in a fatal accident that occurred Saturday.
William Gourdine Jr., 41, is believed to have hit a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Amanda Laurenson at the intersection of Blom and Crabapple about 3:30 p.m.
The incident occurred when Gourdine, traveling westbound on Crabapple, hit Laurenson, who was crossing the intersection, headed southbound on Blom.
Both drivers were taken to LSU Hospital, where Laurenson died of her injuries. When Gourdine is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
Gourdine also is charged with improper lane usage. The investigation continues into the exact cause of the wreck.
